The 2023 Jeep Compass has a new engine, transmission, and driveline to improve performance. For 2022, Jeep gave its Compass SUV a mild refresh, but the new turbocharged engine and drivetrain for the 2023 models bodes well with the new Compass’ on-road and off-road prowess.

What’s New for 2023:

According to Autoblog, the 2023 Compass has gotten rid of the 2.4-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder of the previous model to make room for a new turbocharged powerplant. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbo engine that generates 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft. of torque, an upgrade from the previous Compass. With the new engine upgrade, the 2023 Jeep Compass is significantly more powerful than the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain – two rivals.

The 2023 Compass also gains more standard safety features this year. Newly standard features include drowsy driver detection, a rear seat reminder alert, and a security alarm. Automatic high beams now come standard on all but the Sport trim.

Additional Standard and Available Safety Features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go (standard on Limited and Trailhawk; available on Latitude and Latitude LUX)
  • Active Lane Management
  • LaneSense Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist
  • Rear Cross Path Detection
  • Advanced Brake Assist
  • Pedestrian/Cyclist Automatic Emergency Braking

“We’ve received tremendous customer feedback on the Jeep Compass’ new interior and all the high-tech features, and now we have the opportunity to showcase the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine standard on all Compass models for the 2023 model year,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “I can’t wait for customers to take it for a spin, because not only is it more powerful, it’s also really fun to drive.”

Jeep’s 2023 Compass is available in five different trims: SportLatitudeLatitude LUXLimited and the rugged Trail Rated Trailhawk. .
