The recent debut of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona has both muscle car fanatics and EV enthusiasts excited. Dodge rose to the challenge of turning one of the most popular muscle cars into an all-electric model, which is something to celebrate!

The new electric Dodge Charger Daytona combines the design and power of the iconic muscle car with cutting-edge, zero-emissions technology.

Take a trip down memory lane with the team at Ilderton Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM and learn how the Dodge Daytona came to be and what the current generation has to offer.

The Early Days of the Dodge Charger Daytona

You may remember when NASCAR was referred to as “stock car racing”. That nickname came from the fact that the cars on the track were built from actual production cars. This led manufacturers to design new cars with more powerful engines and more aerodynamic designs in the hopes that their models would win, which would translate to sales.

The Dodge Charger Daytona was one of these vehicles. Introduced in 1969, it had a massive 23-inch rear-deck wing and a sheet metal nosecone that made the Daytona extremely aerodynamic. In fact, it was the first NASCAR vehicle to reach 200 MPH on the track!

And as you may have guessed, it got its name from the Daytona 500.

The Charger Daytona has had a spotty manufacturing history, being produced from 1969-1970 and then spending the next 36 years in retirement before being added back to the Dodge lineup in 2006. It has been manufactured on and off since then, but the new electric model gives it a new lease on life.

A New Era Has Arrived

The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is the world’s first and–as of spring 2024–only electric muscle car. It will be offered in two trim levels: R/T and Scat Pack. Two-door coupe versions of the electric Charger Daytona will begin production in mid-2024.

In early 2025, production of four-door Daytona Scat Pack and R/T models, gas-powered two-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK H.O. and four-door Dodge Charger SIXPACK S.O. is scheduled to start.

The exterior of the 2024 Charger Daytona started true to its roots and features classic Charger styling in a modern silhouette. Finer details like the signature front and rear LED lighting, unique R-Wing, and Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust make it even more of a show-stopper.

The interior includes new 64-color Attitude Adjustment interior lighting that reacts to vehicle events and select driver inputs. Available Black or Demonic Red performance-inspired leather-trimmed front seats with fixed headrests and adjustable thigh bolsters add to the race car feel. Two material options are available: Nappa leather or a suede/Nappa leather combination.

Power & Performance

The new Charger captures the muscle car look, but the newest Dodge doesn’t just look like a proper muscle car–it performs like one, too!

The Charger Daytona has a 100.5 kWh high-voltage battery that was designed to support performance. The battery pack delivers 100.5 kWh installed capacity and a peak discharge rate of 550 kW and is designed to maximize acceleration by allowing the motor to utilize the most power the battery can output in a quarter mile.

The R/T trim delivers an impressive 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. One benefit if you choose the lower-powered Charger Daytona is that it is expected to achieve 317 miles of range, while the top-tier version will be able to reach around 260 miles between charges.

The electric 2024 Charger Daytona Scat Pack features twin horsepower electric motors with AWD, which delivers 670 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and travel a quarter-mile in an estimated 11.5 seconds. The rear motor houses a mechanical limited-slip differential to minimize slipping during high-powered AWD launch moments.
