What is a GEM Car?
GEM stands for Global Electric Motorcars. GEM Cars are 100% battery-electric and have been engineered to meet all state and federal regulations for street-legal operations as a low-speed vehicle (LSV).
Its top speed is 25 MPH and can be driven on most public roads that are posted at 35 mph or less, in states that have approved the use of neighborhood electric vehicles.
GEM Cars are equipped with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) required; safety glass windshield, wipers, headlamps, taillights, turn signals, high mounted stoplights, mirrors, and three-point safety belts.
What Powers the GEM Car?
GEM cars are powered by a 72-volt-battery system, which provides power to a custom controller and powers the electric drive motor.
There are six models of GEM Cars to choose from, The GEM e2, GEM e4, GEM e6, GEM eS, and the GEM eL contain six 12-volt batteries, and the GEM e6 with the "S" Package and the GEM eL XD contain nine 8-volt maintenance-free gel batteries.
You can charge the batteries through an onboard charger that plugs into a 110-volt outlet. To time required to charge new or completely discharged batteries depends on your model. You can "top off" your charge at any time you wish to maintain a high charge level.

The two passenger GEM e2 is ideal for short, every day trips to a neighbor's house, the post office or local market. It's batteries provide a range of up to 35 miles on a single charge, and there are many vehicle options to choose.
The four passenger GEM e4 is great for your family, friends and co-workers to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing drive. The GEM e4 features a sun roof, with several other options available. The e4 batteries will provide a range of up to 30 miles miles on a single charge.
The six passenger GEM e6 is the most versatile and popular with it long list of options, including the "S" Package (shown above) for extra cargo and a driving range of up to 40 miles miles on a single charge.
When you put a 34" x 48" flat bed with a 330 pound cargo capacity on a GEM e2 and you can still keep a range of up to 30 miles on a charge.
When you put a 70" x 48" flat bed with a 700 pound cargo capacity on a GEM e2 and you can still keep a range of up to 30 miles on a charge. Great for nearly any work environment, including indoors, it has remarkable maneuverability and versitility.
The GEM eL XD gives you a 1,100 pound cargo capacity and a range of up to 40 miles on a charge on.
